Hey girls,
Can any of you recommend a good cream for smoothing fine lines around and under the eye?
I can see a lot which specify for mature skin but was wondering if anyone had come across something specially for younger skin. I have read that anti-wrinkle creams are most benefical when used in your 20s. My wrinkles aren't terrible, but every photo I have seen of myself smiling or making any expression recently has shown the dreaded lines!
I'm 22 and looking for something under 拢20, oh and I'm UK based so no UK products and stores only please.
Thanks loads in advance for your help. Can anyone recommend a good anti-wrinkle eye cream for young(ish!) skin?
22 and wrinkles? Have you been in the sun a lot? Fair skin? You should start using an eye cream in your teens! Not preventative, but hydrating and moisturizing. The skin around the eyes has no oil glands, therefore, it shows the first signs of aging. Keeping it hydrated is necessary to ward off fine lines and wrinkles.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and ask if you drink enough water? Do you consume Omega Fatty Acids? Also, what climate do you live in? Dehydrated skin can often cause little fine lines in your skin and around your eyes because your skin is so starved for moisture, that it almost shrivels in a way, mimicking lines.....which if you keep your skin starved for moisture will over time, turn into lines and wrinkles.
This is what I would do.....start drinking more water, try a supplement like Hyaluronic Acid (holds 500 times it's own weight in water) and if you don't consume Omega's. start taking Fish Oil or Flax Seed supplements. Are you losing elasticity around your eye as well? Try the 'pinch test.' Gently pinch an area under your eye and see how long it takes for your skin to return to normal. I would use a very hydrating eye cream (one with Hyaluronic Acid in it as well, if you can) You need moisture, girl! If you want an anti-wrinkle cream, look for ingredients like Vitamin A - Retinol (different from Retynal Palmitate) Vitamin C - (Ascorbic Acid - in a stable form) Alpha Hydroxy Acids in a very low concentration (made especially for the eye) Peptides, Co-enzyme Q-10, essential and hydrating oils, etc., etc. Remember, oil is not the skin's enemy, you just have to choose the right one.;)
Lastly, if you're going to these lengths to try and find the right preventative cream, you need to be using Sunblock or all your effort will be a waste. The best kinds are physical blocks (think Titanium Dioxide or Zinc Oxide) at at least 5% and an SPF of 30. The physical blocks work by reflecting the sun's rays off your skin. The chemical blocks (worse for sensitive skin) contain blocks like Parsol 1789, Oxybenzone, Avobenzone, etc. They are sunblocks, but are not great for sensitive skin. You can get the physical blocks that don't leave your face white. Peter Thomas Roth makes a good Ultra-Light Sunblock as well as Skinceuticals. You can also try a relatively new product that Peter Thomas Roth and Colorescience makes which is a handy clear powder with a retractable brush you can stash in your purse! That way you can touch up your sunblock anytime without the worry of ruining your makeup.
Whoah...I droned on forever...hope that helps.
RE: Your follow-up - I get in the habit of saying 'sun' when really cloudy or not, the sun's rays are hitting you everyday! It's important to wear sunblock whether it's sunny or cloudy. Also, your having light skin and hair makes you the most susceptible (sunbathing or not) to sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, etc. :) It sucks, I'm a red-headed Italian with semi-fair skin.....I know your pain. Can anyone recommend a good anti-wrinkle eye cream for young(ish!) skin?
Boots No7 Protect %26amp; Perfect range, it got a fantastic write up... the whole range did! %26amp; when it was first released you couldn't get it anywhere cos everyone wanted it. It dramatically hydrates your skin to reduce fine lines. you can get everything from eye serum to body serum. %26amp; its under 拢20.
I was wondering the same thing so I asked my mom and she uses Olay Regenerist (think the spelling is wrong sorry) and says she loves it! She uses the one with a touch of foundation in it. She told me that she loves the way it makes her skin feel and she's been noticing a difference. I might try it. Hope that helps.
Prevention is better than cure. Try sun cream and avoid the problem altogether.
